Okefenokee Swamp Park

This is one of the most popular stops for students in the Southeast!  The Okefenokee Swamp Park is a convenient entry point and a perfect window into the “Land of the Trembling Earth”.  Surrounded by jungles and lakes, and the animal inhabitants of both, students often forget they are only 4 hours outside of Atlanta.  Boat tours on original Indian waterways, walkways through the Okefenokee wilderness, Pioneer Island, and native animals in their own habitat all combine to weave a spell of pioneer American life.  Students will tour the waterways on boat, take a train ride around the Swamp, ride along the railway, hear a lecture on the cultural history of the Okefenokee, take themselves on a self-guided nature walk, and will sit for a highly interactive wildlife show where they will learn all about the diversity of these swamp’s inhabitants and how evolution has played an almost magical role in the development of these creatures.  This is a must see park for 7th grade science students in Georgia!
